More About the “Meal Team”

I head up the “Circle of Selfless Service Meal Team.” We have been serving meals about once a month at the Maxine Lewis Shelter and the Prado Day Center in San Luis Obispo since the beginning of 2009. Our official sponsor is Awakening Interfaith Spiritual Community in Morro Bay. I keep a list of volunteers and put a call out, mostly by email, in advance of each meal that is coming up. I ask people to either be cookers or servers (but they can do both if they really want to!) The cookers deliver the food well insulated to stay hot just before the meal. The servers are each assigned to bring something (like bread, milk, bananas, etc.)

Each volunteer donates what s/he contributes, unless this is a financial hardship. I can get volunteers reimbursement if they get their receipts to me.
